This past weekend, I was fortunate to be part of Event Camp Vancouver 2011. I was inspired by several of the speakers as well as event professionals that I met through the conference. Because of that, I’ve decided to take a new direction with my blog.

Since I’ve been back in Vancouver, my main focus has been to obtain a position with an established and successful events production company. I really wanted to be immersed in event planning and learn from event professionals who’ve been doing this for years. However, I quickly learned that this industry is extremely competitive and has high barriers to entry. The key to entering this industry is timing and who you know. Since timing is something I can’t control, I’ve been doing everything I can to meeting and networking with experienced event professionals. That brings me back to this blog… I’m going to start chronicling my journey in the events industry. I’ll start with posting conversations I’ve had and/or people I’ve met so far. If you’re also trying to break into the business, you might find this useful and I invite you to share your journey as well. I know everything I learned so far has only made me more determined to be successful.

Again, thanks for being patient with the changes. As you can tell, I’ve moved from Blogger to WordPress with the hopes that this platform can offer more custom options. I will no longer be updating the blog at this address so please follow me at the new one: http://itspchan.wordpress.com/

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me. I love feedback.

Cheers,
Priscilla
